wedding songs lyrics

There are some general rules that apply to any form of songwriting, irrespective of the genre. Wedding song lyrics for instance, whether they are Hawaiian wedding song lyrics, Irish wedding song lyrics, Christian wedding song lyrics or even Contemporary Christian wedding song lyrics, would all have to adhere to a certain code. Basically the key to writing great wedding song lyrics is to use the couple’s stories in the words.

Alternately, a good wedding song speaks of the bond between the bride’s family and the bride and stirs up the audience’s emotion by stressing on the sanctity of the bond between the bride’s parents or siblings and the bride.

Like any lyric-writing, writing the words of wedding songs must stem from the heart. Finding the right subject therefore is the key to good wedding song writing. To do this, the writer must try and think of what subjects would touch his or her audience’s hearts. The audience, in this case, consists of mainly family members of the betrothed couple and some very close friends so their sentiments must be of a paramount importance.

A good wedding song however, does not mean that it should be overly sentimental or emotional and need not have a tear-jerking quality. One can even write a funny wedding song, if one is gifted with a good sense-of-humor. Of course, the humor, in this case, should be carefully curtailed and the writer must be careful to avoid hurting anyone’s sentiments.

Wedding songs can be rendered especially personal by including the names of family members and close friends. This can be very enjoyable for the audience as it gives every person in attendance a chance to understand the family and friends and their relations with the bride and groom as well.

In Indian weddings, it is not uncommon to tease the bride or the groom and even family members in wedding songs. However, while such teasing is almost part of Indian culture, one must be careful with one’s choice of words and must never overstep the boundaries of wedding song etiquette.

Weddings are happy events and the mood of the occasion must be carefully adhered to before electing the songs for that occasion. In Indian weddings, certain occasions are more focused on women whereas other occasions may be centered on men and this should also be considered before selecting appropriate songs for the functions.

Some mistakes that should be painstakingly avoided in wedding songs must also be mentioned as these can have disastrous consequences. To avoid one of the most disastrous mistakes, the singer and song writer must make sure that they have the correct names of all the close family, should they choose to include these in the songs. No one should feel left out so if they do choose to use names of family members, either limit yourself to the names of only the immediate family of the bride and groom or else mention everyone that is closely connected to both families.
