Rap Songs
Several rappers who have been around in the rap scene right from the beginning of the rap era are artists such as Africa Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, and Kool Herc.
These artists claim that rap music had its origins in the year of 1974. The claim goes further to specify that the origin happened in the playgrounds of the South Bronx.
Most of the features of the rap songs go way back to its African origins. A very strong example of this is the call and response pattern. This pattern is present not only in rap music, but it is also present in other music genres, which have originated from the African basics.
Some examples of the song forms that have originated from the African music are song forms like the gospel music, the work songs, the jazz, and the rhythm and blues. Recently there have been more influences on the rap songs.
Many different genres of rap music exist. But some of the prominent ones are political rap songs, or message rap songs. In the late 1980s and early 1990s the genres of message rap within the rap songs became increasingly popular.
However, the message rap songs are not only known for the struggles against injustice, but these rap songs are often also connected and associated with strong, or negative feelings for the other ethnic groups.
